chantalThe Founding President of the school, Mrs Chantal Biya yesterday chaired the end-of- academic year feast.

Pupils at “Les Coccinelles” Primary School Complex at the Unity Palace had reason to celebrate yesterday. After performing brilliantly during the 2008/2009 academic year, the pupils thrilled their matron, Mrs Chantal Biya, and their guests to a three-hour exciting moment of songs, dances, sketches and poems. The event marked the traditional end of year academic feast at the school premises which was presided at by the Founding President of the school, Mrs Biya. It was an occasion to send out the fifth batch of pupils from the school which was inaugurated on September 29, 2000 by Mrs Biya, in the presence of the then Minister of National Education.

The colourful event which began at 10:30 a.m with the arrival of the First Lady was executed in four phases. The pupils elated their audience in song and dance in both official languages. In some of their presentations they debated on the importance of holidays and the fight against desertification. The academic results of the school term were proclaimed. Thereafter, the pupils received special gifts from their matron which was followed by a visit to the various classrooms by dignitaries.

In a message from the pupils and the Director of the school, Guillaume Mpouenanga, the generous actions of the First Lady were highlighted and which have earned her numerous titles such as the Honorary President of US Doctors for Africa. While presenting the balance sheet of the term, Guillaume Mpouenanga said all the classes attained 100 per cent pass for the 2008/2009 academic year. With such good results, the matron handed special gifts to all the 94 pupils who make up the school. To add more spice to the event, popular artists such as X-Maleya and Patou Bass joined the kids in thanking Mrs Chantal Biya for her support to humanity. The dancing session kept the entire audience on their feet as they joined the kids in a happy holiday and farewell songs.
